Older Rigs
RMES has had many other apparatus besides the ones currently in our bays. Here's a partial catalog of them.
From left to right: Pumper 1, a 1969 International; Pumper 2, a 1962 Thibault; Pumper 3, a 1990 GMC TopKick; Sierra 1, a 1984 GMC Suburban; and First Response, a 1981 Ford F250. This photo was taken circa 1990.
Pumper 2 is shown in an undated pre-1990 photo. This truck belonged to the City of North Vancouver before coming to live in Redwood Meadows.
Captain Dave McPherson (right) sees off the old pumper truck, as a towing service prepares to take it to its new owner.
In this undated photo, Captain Dave McPherson fills up Pumper 3 with diesel from the antique gravity-fed pump at the Bragg Creek Trading Post. This truck is still in service today, in Irricana, another Rocky View town.
This photo, taken in 1990, shows Chief Ed Bowen posing with Pumper 3 and the equipment included with it. The truck was assigned to Redwood Meadows and owned by the Municipal District of Rocky View, for responses into the MD. Today, RMES still covers the MD, but with its own apparatus on a contract basis.
This truck served as Pumper 3 after the one shown above, but before the Hendrickson Engine which is now in service today. This truck is a 1975 Cargostar pumper, formerly in service with the City of Calgary as P2075, and has a 500 gpm tank and 840 gpm pump. This truck now runs with the Langdon Fire Station of the Rocky View Fire Service
Firefighter Brian Carr pressure-washes the body of the Pump before painting, while it was mounted on an older, 1969 International chassis.
