The dining hall at the Camp Cadicasu children's retreat burned on the morning of January 23.
Redwood Meadows was assisted by crews from Cochrane Fire/EMS, Calgary Fire Department, and Springbank Emergency Services. The fire, which started in the vicinity of the kitchen, consumed the interior of the building, and burned stubbornly for several hours.
Despite the stiff winds that morning (blowing at the backs of these firefighters, causing their foam stream to behave in unpredictable ways), no other property loss or casualties were reported.
This is the back of the building, where the kitchen was situated. Due to the natural gas feeding the blaze, this area suffered near total damage.
