Crews attended a spectacular crash early in the morning during a power failure. The Jeep seen in the left background of the picture came from the right foreground, airborne, struck the power pole (seen lying in pieces between the two pedestal boxes), cleared over the pedestal boxes, and bounced once (notice bumper on ground in center of background) before landing upright facing the way it came.
Despite the incredible forces involved in such a ferocious crash, the passenger compartment was intact with no intrusion. The only actions required to remove the lone patient was to remove the door with hydraulic rescue tools.
A crewman from Fortis Alberta electrical service makes safe the still-live cable dangling from the main line (not visible in photo). Power for a community of 30 homes was out for approximately 3 hours.
