Hot Shots: Alberta Fire Training School, circa 1997
Fire crews, including some RMES members, attack a large body of fire at the Alberta Fire Training School.
The pan is flooded with water and diesel fuel, which is then ignited.
Crews must extinguish the fire not by smothering it with foam or cooling it with water, but instead 'pushing' it out of the pan so that the fire can no longer contact the fuel.
RMES crews take a break in the 30°C+ weather after completing an evolution. From left to right, Captain Dave Humphrey, Firefighter Roman Wegiel, Firefighter Jason Low, Deputy Chief George Low, and Chief Ed Bowen (kneeling).
