Hot Shots: Training - Self Rescue Exercise, 09/21/04, Redwood Meadows
This firefighter is practicing what we call a 'self rescue' exercise. His breathing air mask has been blinded by covering it with aluminum foil - then he is led to where a hose has been strung through the local playground equipment. Not being able to see a thing, he (and his partner) are required to follow the hose line back to 'safety'. This teaches us to remember that at all times, a hoseline is going to lead to the outside of the building, back where we started, where it is safe.
