Tomorrow morning Redwood Meadows Emergency Services will be sending two firefighters up north to help with the firefighting efforts in Fort McMurray.

While we were unable to send apparatus and equipment to assist earlier, we have been able to partner with Crossfield fire department and boost their manpower on the scene. Our firefighters will work under their control and use their equipment. This speaks volumes to the ability to work with our partners throughout Rocky View County and the communities around it and beyond.

While our members would all love to be up there helping our brothers and sisters with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo's fire department, we have our own wild land interface to worry about. That is our priority, our own backyard. This is why we support the fire ban until a substantial amount of moisture comes our way.

From the sounds of things, municipal firefighting resources from outside of the the general area will be demobilized in the near future and this could very well be our only members that get a chance to assist.

We will keep everyone posted with our work.
