A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for the Townsite of Redwood Meadows due to the water treatment system being unable to cope with a significant deterioration in source water quality.
In preparation for this event our river intake was closed and we have been using the natural filtration provided by our infiltration gallery. With the elbow river volume increasing from 14m3/sec to 100m3/sec, water quality entering the treatment plant has reduced to a point that the plant is unable to keep up. Aquatech reports that "the river condition is currently looking like chocolate milk".
Please see the attached document about using water safely during a boil water advisory.
Additionally, Townsite will provide future updates on the location of temporary sources of potable water. Please take only what you need. They will be refilled as required.
Reminder: It is especially important to have your sump pump drain outdoors and away from your foundation. Please do not drain sumps into our sewer system. It is not designed to handle the extra volume.
Please see this notice from the Townsite of Redwood Meadows on Facebook.
