Our Mission
To Provide area teens with an exciting and educational look into the fire service during their week at camp. Providing them with activities and mentorship to promote the qualities of 'COMMUNITY, TEAMWORK, LEADERSHIP & PRIDE'.
When is Fire Cadet Camp (FCC)
Level I: July 18 - 22 OR August 8 - 12
Level II: July 25 - 29
Level III: August 2 - 5
Due to the structure of the program, Cadets must attend Levels in order (i.e. Level I, Level II, Level III)
Where is FCC
Camp is being hosted in Redwood Meadows. Cadets are 'stationed' out of the community centre and will conduct their training between there, the training area at the fire station, the sports field and immediate area of the Townsite of Redwood Meadows.
What Are Camp Hours
Camp runs Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm, with the exception of the Thursday overnight campout. Early drop off or later pick up may be available, email us for more information.
Who Can Attend FCC
FCC is intended for Local Teens 14-17 in the Redwood Meadows, Bragg Creek, Springbank and Cochrane Area. Teens outside of this age range +/- 1 year will be considered on a case by case basis. Teens from outside of the local area may be eligable to attend pending all local applicants have ben accommodated.
Who is Leading the Training
FCC is being led by trained Redwood Meadows Emergency Service Firefighters (Platoon Leaders). This not only ensures Cadets receive the most authentic, but also the safest training experience. These members take time off of their fulltime employment to come help out for the week. Each full week of camp has 3 staff: 2 Platoon Leaders and an Assistant Leader.
What is the cost
The cost is $300 for the week. FCC is operated as a net zero program in partnership with the Redwood Meadows Firefighters' Association and our generous sponsors. The breakdown of the registration fee is below.

Is There a Chance of Getting Hurt
Firefighting is a physically demanding activity and some training exercises use equipment that could cause injury. As with our normal Firefighting training, all steps possible are taken to ensure safety, including providing Cadets with the necessary personal protective equipment. Platoon leaders are not only trained in safety procedures, but emergency care in the event of an accident.
After Completing Fire Cadets Can I Come Help Out at the Fire Station
No, at this time Redwood Meadows Emergency Services does not offer a regular Fire Cadet Program. However, we do encourage you to apply with us once you turn 18. Visit our recruitment page for more information.
