It’s been a busy summer for RMES!
Our members spent much of the summer responding to backcountry rescue calls with our partners at Kananaskis Public Safety, Alpine Helicopters, STARS and Alberta Parks. With beautiful fall weather ahead of us, here’s a few tips to help ensure we don’t “meet” you in the backcountry:
As always, when you see the big red trucks coming up behind you with our lights flashing and sirens going. Pull over and stop. It’s the law and someone else is depending on us to get them quickly and safely.
Until next month, stay safe!
Lately we have had more instances of people calling the non-emergency phone number at the fire hall or even messaging us on social media to notify our members of the need for service.
We are a volunteer emergency service. Because of this, we do not guarantee that we will have members at the fire hall.
If you need fire department help, medical assistance or the police, please call 9-1-1. Professionals at our dispatch centre will ask a series of different questions, based on your concerns and dispatch YOUR responders appropriately.
RMES members are dispatched within seconds of your 9-1-1 call and will be on the the way to assist you in minutes.

RMES Fire Chief Rob Evans, in conjuntion with town site administration, has issued a Fire Ban for the town site of Redwood Meadows effective immediately, due to the heat, wind and dry conditions.

The Townsite is encouraging property owners to protect themselves from wildfire by adopting FireSmart activities at home, such as clearing dead or combustible vegetation, and implementing wildfire-resilient landscaping.
We have added a yard waste bin to the Townsite parking area and will continue to replace the bin over the next few weeks. Please NO PLASTIC in the bin and branches should be placed in the bock area so that they can be chipped at a later date. Please see the attachment or visit https://firesmartcanada.ca/ for more tips.
If you would like to take advantage of the free property assessment, please return the attached form to admin@redwoodmeadows.ab.ca
Please FireSmart your yards only to the property line. The Golf Course maintains their own FireSmart program.
